Necessary equipment for brewing Arabic coffee

Arabic Coffee Recipe

Ibrahim Bat
To make Arabic coffee, begin with a 1:10 ratio of finely ground coffee to water, adding cardamom for flavor. Combine the ingredients in a cezve, bring to a boil without stirring to form a foam, then serve immediately, ensuring an even distribution of foam across cups.

Equipment

  • 1 Cezve
  • 1 Small Cup
  • 1 Tea Spoon

Ingredients

  • 6 gr Finely Ground Arabiic Coffee
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Bean Cardamom
  • Sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Calculate The Ingredients
Arabic coffee is brewed at a 1:10 coffee-to-water ratio. That is, 10 units of water should be used for every unit of coffee grounds. For example, for a 60 ml (2 fl oz) brew, you should use 6 grams (0.2 oz) of coffee grounds.
Arabic coffee is usually served in 60 ml (2 fl oz) cups. Multiply the values I will give momentarily by the number of people you will be brewing for. The things needed for a single serving of Arabic coffee are:
60 ml (2 fl oz) water
6 gram (0.2 oz) coffee grounds
1 cardamom bean or a quarter teaspoon of ground cardamom
  • Grind Your Coffee And Cardamom
Note: If you use pre-ground coffee and cardamom, skip this step.
Arabic coffee is ground to the consistency of powdered sugar (extra fine). Not every coffee grinder may be able to grind this fine. Therefore, check your grinder’s instructions to see if it can grind.
Remove the seeds and discard the outer shell if you use cardamom beans. Then grind the cardamom seeds to coffee thickness. Add coffee, cardamom, and water to the pot (cezve). If you like your coffee sweet, also add sugar to taste.
  • Stir And Boil
Stir the coffee, cardamom, and water with a teaspoon to blend. Then cook over medium heat. Depending on your brewing amount, a foam layer will rise on your coffee within 3-5 minutes. When this layer starts to rise quickly, turn off the stove.
  • Serve
Pour the coffee into cups and serve. If the coffee is for more than one person, first divide the foam into the cups. This way, each cup will have an equal amount of foam.

Notes

Cup: Arabic coffee is usually served in handleless cups with a volume of 60-90 ml (2-3 fl oz). But you don’t need to buy a special cup for this. You can use any cup of the same size or an espresso cup.
Sweet: You can offer dates or chocolate with Arabic coffee. Both are in great harmony with Arabic coffee.
Tip 1: Never stir again or intervene after placing the pot on the stove. Otherwise, you will end up with a coffee without foam. And a foamless Arabic coffee is unthinkable.
Tip 2: If you do not want to use pre-ground coffee and spices, you will need a coffee grinder and a spice grinder. Actually, you can grind your spices with your coffee grinder as well. However, if any spice residue is left in the grinder, these residues can mix into your next brewing. That’s why I use two separate grinders, and I recommend you do the same.
