To brew tea with an Aeropress, use the inverted method, adding herbal tea leaves to the Aeropress, pouring hot water, waiting 5-6 minutes, and then pressing into a cup. This method offers a clear and vibrant tea, leveraging Aeropress's fine filtration.
Place the Aeropress on the counter as if in the inverted method.
Add the herbal tea leaves.
Pour the hot water in circular motions. Make sure all the leaves are wet.
Place the paper filter in the filter cap and rinse with hot water.
Install the filter cap.
Wait for 5-6 minutes to brew.
Place your mug or carafe to receive the Aeropress filter cap in reverse. Turn the system around with one hand holding your mug and the other in the middle of the Aeropress.
Press down until you hear a hissing sound. Once you hear the sound, your herbal tea is ready to serve.
Notes
Tea Selection: Choose high-quality loose-leaf tea for optimal flavor. Experiment with different tea varieties to discover unique and nuanced profiles.Tea-to-Water Ratio: Experiment with the tea-to-water ratio to find your preferred strength. Typically, one to two teaspoons of loose-leaf tea per 8 ounces (240 ml) of water works well, but adjust based on personal taste.Brewing Time: Adjust the brewing time according to the type of tea. Delicate teas like green or white may require a shorter steeping time, while robust black teas can withstand a longer extraction.Experiment with Additions: Customize your tea by adding honey, lemon, or other flavorings after brewing. Adjust the additions to suit your taste preferences.Filter Choice: Consider using a fine mesh metal filter for your Aeropress when making tea. This allows more of the tea's natural oils and flavors to pass through.Experiment with Temperature and Time: Tea is versatile, so feel free to experiment with different water temperatures and steeping times to find the combination that suits your preferences.
