As a dedicated coffee lover, the Aeropress has long held a cherished place in my heart for its ease of use and effortless cleaning. Yet, there are days when my coffee consumption reaches its zenith or the late hour’s beckon, prompting me to turn to herbal tea for solace.
Herbal tea has become a daily ritual, providing a delightful respite from the bustling world. However, the French press typically dominates the scene when it comes to brewing herbal tea.
But hold on! Can the versatile Aeropress, renowned for its exceptional coffee-making capabilities, also yield a satisfying cup of tea? The answer is a resounding “Yes!”
Surprisingly, the Aeropress can produce a tea with unparalleled clarity and vibrancy, outshining its French press counterpart. Thanks to Aeropress’s paper filter, the tea is expertly strained, ensuring a cleaner and more refined infusion.
In this guide from “Best Coffee at Home,” we venture into the realm of serenity and flavor, uncovering the enchanting process of crafting herbal tea with the reliable Aeropress.
What You Need to Brew Tea in an Aeropress?
- Aeropress
- Mug
- Carafe (optional)
- Aeropress paper filter
- Hot water
- Herbal Tea

Step by Step Instruction: How to Brew Tea With Aeropress?
I recommend using the inverted method instead of the standard brewing method in the Aeropress. The inverted method will provide a more controllable brew.
- Step 1) Boil the Water
- Step 2) Place the Aeropress on the counter as if in the inverted method.
- Step 3) Add the herbal tea leaves.
- Step 4) Pour the hot water in circular motions. Make sure all the leaves are wet.
- Step 5) Place the paper filter in the filter cap and rinse with hot water.
- Step 6) Install the filter cap.
- Step 7) Wait for 5-6 minutes to brew.
- Step 8) Place your mug or carafe to receive the Aeropress filter cap in reverse. Turn the system around with one hand holding your mug and the other in the middle of the Aeropress.
- Step 9) Press down until you hear a hissing sound. Once you hear the sound, your herbal tea is ready to serve.
