Latte is one of the most popular espresso-based coffees. A typical latte consists of espresso, milk, and milk foam. However, a latte doesn’t have as much milk foam as a cappuccino.
So, can you make a latte with an AeroPress?
A latte is made from espresso, and AeroPress can’t make a real espresso. However, brewing a coffee concentrate similar to espresso with the AeroPress is possible. Therefore, you can prepare a drink with your AeroPress that tastes quite similar to a real latte.
In this article on Bestcoffeeathome.com, we will explain step-by-step how to prepare a latte with your AeroPress.
What Do You Need For Aeropress Latte?
- Aeropress coffee maker
- Paper or metal filter
- Aeropress paddle
- 15 gr coffee beans
- Milk
- Hot Water
- Milk Steamer, milk frother, or French press
- Burr Grinder
- Scale
- Thermometer

How to Make Aeropress Latte?
You must make a very concentrated brew to make a latte in an AeroPress. This involves using plenty of coffee beans and less water. So, to use the water more efficiently, we will use Aeropress inverted method in this recipe.
Step 1) Grind Your Beans
Weigh 15 grams of coffee beans and grind them to the thickness of table salt. You can use the scoop with your AeroPress if you don’t have a scale. It holds approximately 15 grams when full.

Step 2) Heat Your Water
Heat the water needed for brewing. Aim for 203 °F (95 °C) if you have a thermometer. If you don’t have a thermometer, boil the water and let it rest for 1-1.5 minutes.

Step 3) Preheat and Prepare Aeropress
Pull out the plunger of the AeroPress so that about 1 cm (½ inch) remains inside the chamber. Then, pour hot water into your AeroPress to preheat it and shake it lightly. After that, pour out the water inside the sink.

Step 4) Brew Your Espresso
Place your AeroPress upside down on your scale and add the coffee grounds. Then pour 75 ml (2.5 oz) of hot water over the coffee grounds.
Step 5) Stir and Wait
Use the paddle of your AeroPress to stir the mixture vigorously for 10 seconds. Then, attach a paper or metal filter to the filter cap and place it on the AeroPress. Wait for 1 minute for your coffee to brew.
Pro tip: Metal filters make a fuller-bodied coffee. Use a metal filter in your AeroPress to taste the coffee more intensely in your latte.

Step 6) Flip and Press
Place your cup on top of the AeroPress, covering the filter cup. Then, carefully and quickly flip it over with one hand holding the connection point of the AeroPress and the other hand holding your cup.
Place the entire system on the counter. Then, push down steadily on the plunger without applying too much force. Continue pressing until you hear a hissing sound.
Pro tip: If the mouth of your cup is not wide enough to accommodate the filter cap, you can use the funnel of the AeroPress.

Step 7) Heat and Froth the Milk
Heat and froth 150 ml (5 oz) of milk. You can use a milk steamer or a milk frother for frothing. If you have a French press, you can even froth your milk with it.
All you need to do is pour the heated milk into the French press and move the plunger rapidly up and down. Your milk will froth quickly. I usually use the steamer of my espresso machine to froth milk.
However, I used a milk frother to prepare a latte without an espresso machine for this recipe.

Step 8) Stir and Serve
Pour the frothed milk into the coffee you brewed in the AeroPress and stir. Your latte is now ready to serve. You can sweeten your latte with your favorite syrups or sugar. If you ask me, caramel syrup goes very well with a latte.

AeroPress Iced Latte
If you want to drink your latte iced, do not heat the milk in step 7 of the recipe; just froth it. Then, pour the milk over the coffee you brewed in your AeroPress and serve with ice.
Conclusions for AeroPress Latte
If your coffee journey hasn’t yet reached an espresso machine, an AeroPress will be enough for you to prepare a latte. With this recipe, you can easily prepare a latte at home.
